Terms & Conditions for Writing Sprouts' courses (upd Feb'24)

1. Fees and Payment i. Enrolment will only be recognised upon full payment of all fees associated with the course. All fees must be paid in advance, following Writing Sprouts’ payment schedule and payment mode. We reserve the right to refuse attendance if payment is not received. ii. Weekly courses: There is a registration fee chargeable for first-time enrolment and for past students who re-join after more than a term. There is an Admin & Supplies fee that is chargeable for every term/ semester.iii. All fees are not refundable and not transferable. 2. Public holidays and the Writing Sprouts’ declared holidaysi. There will be no lessons on all gazetted public holidays and Writing Sprouts’ declared holidays. Writing Sprouts will conduct lessons in lieu (up to 2 affected days per semester) and they are scheduled to take place at the end of each semester. For the 3rd affected day onwards, no lesson fee will be charged. 3. Substitute lessons and credit vouchersi. Weekly course: A maximum of 2 substitute lessons, due to personal reasons is allowed per semester (1 per term). They are provided out of goodwill, subject to availability and are scheduled to be on the same week of the missed lesson. Substitute lessons must be arranged with Writing Sprouts beforehand. If a substitute lesson cannot be arranged, no extra lesson will be provided. We would issue lesson notes for student to do work at home. Full marking and feedback will be provided upon submission by student.ii. Weekly course: In cases of absence due to medical condition, substitute lessons could be arranged subject to conditions in Section 3i. Alternatively, credit vouchers for the fee of up to 4 missed lessons per semester may be requested by submitting a valid medical certificate (medical certificate from Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners will not be accepted). iii. Sections 3i and 3ii are not applicable for holiday classes and ad hoc programmes that are conducted by the School.iv. Credit vouchers provided are to be used to offset subsequent weekly course fees only. They are not transferable and redeemable for cash. Upon withdrawal, the credit voucher under the student’s account will be void and cannot be reinstated. 4. Student Welfare i. Writing Sprouts will ensure that standard and reasonable safety precautions are taken within our premises. We will not be responsible for your child’s safety outside of the timings of the enrolled courses. Parent/Guardian is to be mindful of the course timing and to pick up your child punctually.ii. We reserve the right to disallow student attendance if their temperature is above 37.5°C or deemed to be unfit for lesson.iii. Writing Sprouts will not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage to students’ personal belongings or personal injury caused to students in our premises due to mishaps or any unforeseen circumstances.iv. Parent/Guardian will bear all costs incurred as a result of any damage, injury, loss, expense or liability that may be caused to other person/s and/or to property by your child.v. We reserve the right to dismiss any student at any time for reasons including but not limited to frequent absences, disciplinary reasons, health and safety reasons, overdue fee payment or non-compliance with policies and procedures listed here. 5. Revision/Amendmenti. Writing Sprouts reserves the right to combine, transfer, cancel an ongoing course or lesson, change the teacher or date and time of any course. We reserve the right to change fees upon prior written or verbal notice to the Parent/Guardian.ii. We reserve the right to amend and add to any of the terms from time to time without prior notice. 6. Students’ worki. i. Writing Sprouts and its affiliated business entities own all copyrights to students’ work completed through our courses. We may adapt, publish, digitally archive, distribute, sell, and publicly display or perform a student’s work in any form, media, or technology. Our intent is to use the work for education/promotional/public relations purposes.ii. Writing Sprouts seeks to encourage creativity, confidence, love of the language, self-expression and self-directed learning. Our approach to marking and feedback for an assignment takes into consideration the student’s age and ability, the objectives of the assignment, and the tailored objectives for the student. Therefore, immature handwriting, and writing errors may be present in an assignment, and not everything may not be pointed out and corrected. By attending our courses, Parent/Guardian grants Writing Sprouts professional autonomy to guide your child according to the beliefs stated above. 7. Audio-visual recordingi. Audio and visual recording by Parent/Guardian is strictly not allowed unless expressed permission and authorisation has been given by Writing Sprouts.ii. A student may be captured on audio-visual recording while attending courses or events. These audio-visual recordings may be used in any form, media, or technology for our education/promotional/public relations purposes. We reserve the right to use these audio-visual recordings as and when we deem appropriate.iii. In the event that we use your child’s work and/or audio-visual recording, we will conceal pertinent particulars of your child for the purpose of protecting a minor’s identity. 8. Othersi. We reserve the right of final interpretation for the content of this policy.ii. In the event of any disputes, Writing Sprout’s liability will be restricted to the course fee of the unutilised lessons.iii. Writing Sprouts may use your testimonials for Advertising and Marketing purposes. 9. Personal detailsi. Parent/ Guardian is required to notify Writing Sprouts of any changes to their particulars as listed on the Registration Form. All correspondences will be communicated through the contact number and email address given to us. We will not be responsible for undelivered correspondence.ii. Writing Sprouts will not be responsible for any inaccurate or undeclared information given in the registration form given by Parent/Guardian. iii. Any personal contact details that you provide during registration will be stored in our database solely for the purposes of disseminating information pertaining to your child and our business. We do not share your personal information with third parties. We abide by the Personal Data Protection Act (2021).
